GETTING STARTED WITH THE CURIOUS

Slide2

Congratulations!  You’re working with someone who is CURIOUS about Jesus and the Gospel.  Your goal with a CURIOUS person is to steward their curiosity and help them transition to belief.  The truth is that genuine conversion isn’t fueled by a person’s curiosity but rather by the call of Jesus on their life.  You’ll need to help CURIOUS people discover that Jesus is calling them.  Let’s get started by getting familiar with the CURIOUS Stage.  What’s a CURIOUS person? Click here for how we define a CURIOUS person and other FAQs.  Once you’re comfortable with the definition, start the following steps:

MAKE SURE THE PERSON YOU ARE WORKING WITH HAS FILLED OUT THE STAGES ONLINE ASSESSMENT FORM. A CURIOUS person should be willing to fill out the assessment if they’ve agreed to explore Jesus with you.  The assessment will help you understand where they are and what you need to do to help them.  Find the form here.

HAVE “THE TALK” IN YOUR FIRST MEET-UP.  “The Talk” sets the table for your discipleship relationship.  Most versions have an overview of the Assessment, Growth Rhythms, and Meet-Ups.  It also shapes the expectations in a new discipleship relationship for both the disciple and the disciple maker.  More than likely it will take up your entire time for your first encounter especially as you unpack their assessment.   “The Talk For The Curious” is designed to help people understand how their curiosity could be an invitation from God into a relationship.  It also explains what they should be looking for when exploring Jesus and what belief really looks like.  Find it here.

START ADDRESSING GROWTH AREAS IN YOUR MEET-UPS.  Choose a lesson below, print it out, and read it together during the Look Up time in your Meet-Up. Use our Meet-Up Guide to help you organize your time.  For an overview of how to lead Meet-Up’s, click here.
