HELP FOR MINISTRY LEADERS

For those of you with the incredible privilege of leading the disciple making efforts in your ministry…this page is for you!  We’ll try to populate this section with as many useful resources as we can find, stages-related or not.  We’ll also write some short articles based on issues we often hear about from disciple makers.  We hope you never stop working towards a disciple making culture in your ministry.  It is the mission!

EAT SERVE LOVE QUESTIONS

We started our first Eat Serve Love 6 years ago to help gather those who were responding to the gospel.  Our format was an every other week dinner discussion group that forced us to ask and answer questions about our lives from James 5 (see above) and from particular Bible stories we were exploring (see mats below).

EAT SERVE LOVE MATS

These mats were a labor of love and were always under our plates at our dinners.  When we were all done eating, we would clear the plates and start the discussion using the story and questions.  These were designed to help a room full of people exploring Christianity and were written with that in mind.

ENGAGE GATHER DISCIPLE MANUAL

This was our initial church planting philosophy when we came to Toronto.  We’ve changed some of our approach now but this approach helped us launch our first two churches.

FAQ’S FROM NEW DISCIPLE MAKERS

The more we try to cultivate a culture of discipleship in our ministry, the more we have to answer questions from disciple makers who are asking to do their own thing.  It’s a challenge to communicate that you value someone’s experience and you want them to fit into your culture.  Here is how we attempt to do that in an FAQ’s format.

INSTALLING DISCIPLE MAKING PATHWAYS

If you’re interested in or already installing a disciple making pathway in a small to medium size church, I would recommend reading this short pdf.  We’ve been through the process and are still going through how to make intentional discipleship relationships among congregants work on a church wide level.

INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY CHURCH PLANTING HELPS

IMB workers in Europe and North America who work on university campuses put together this manual on potential timelines could look like in a typical missionary term.

STEP BY STEP DISCIPLE MAKING PART 1 (MOBILE VERSION)

This our original guide to help disciple makers.  It was designed to be read on a phone.   Although it was intended to help disciple makers, we quickly found out that many of the suggestions were more for ministry leaders who had the power to change formats.  A more condensed and tested version of this has been written and can be found above in the Installing Disciple Making Pathways link.

TRAINING WHEELS

Slide1This is one of our more recent tools and we’re still working on it.  Training wheels can be used to get your leaders and members started in training others.  Whether its training for support positions in your ministry like set-up or greeter or training in spiritual disciplines, the process is the same.  We told our people that if they would take anyone they know and train them in anything using the card, they could redeem it for a free coffee.  That’s how desperate we are to build the training muscle in our ministry.
